  • Can I install Spot on more than one computer?
In a word, yes. After installing Spot on the new computer, run Spot and under the Help menu select "Enter Serial Number". A small window will appear where you can enter in the name you used when purchasing Spot as well as the serial number that was send in the activation email.

Please do not pass this serial number around as it is a violation of your terms of agreement. We do not limit the number of computers you can install Spot on so we trust you will not indiscriminately give away the activation information. Return to top
  • I see a server option in the Programs preference, what is that for?
Spot allows up to 10 programs to connect to it and receive traffic from the cluster you are connected to. All traffic will be sent but DX Spots will be re-formatted to the traditional "DX de .." format that programs expect. Any commands you enter from these programs will be sent to the cluster.

To use this server feature, click on Enable Server button in the preference window and define what port number you want Spot to listen on. Then, in your logging program define the cluster you want to connect to as being at 127.0.0.1 and the port number you specified in the preference window of Spot. Return to top
  • Can I see a band map for a different band than the one I have selected for the window view?
Yes, it is possible. First, click on the band button to display the band you desire in the window view, then click the band map button to see the band map. While holding down the shift key, click on the band button you wish to see the band map for. The shift-click is only needed when you want to see a different band on the band map from that displayed in the window. Return to top
  • How do you keep my Cty.Dat and cluster information up to date?
Whenever Jim. AD1C, publishes a new file (CTY.DAT is at www.country-files.com and the cluster information comes from www.dxcluster.info), we upload it to our server and set a flag in a small file. This small file is downloaded whenever you start up Spot and Spot checks to see if there is a later version of these files versus what you have stored locally. If a newer file exists, Spot downloads it and uses that information.

It only does this at program start-up, however, so if you leave Spot running for days (and thats how some do) it will not check until you restart it. Return to top
  • Is any of my personal information visible to you?
The only information we receive is that which you submit on your order (and even then we do not see the credit card numbers). The information you fill out in the general tab of the preferences window is only used for sending station information to the DXCluster. Return to top
  • How do I purchase Spot? I did not see anywhere on your website to buy the program?
Spot has an embedded "web store" that can handle this for you! Go to the Help Menu and click on Purchase. A window will appear that will handle the ordering for you and the registration details are automatically entered into the program. You will also receive an email with the name you are registered under as well as your serial number. Please save this email in case you need to install Spot again. Return to top
