Spot 1.9.6 Released on 15 November.

This release fixes two bugs: the first bug involved the formatting of frequencies of spots causing some programs using Spot's server function to not recognize the spot. The frequency sent to programs using Spot as a server no longer have formatted frequencies. Second bug was the inappropriate warning that an update was in progress via Spot's update mechanism. This initial check has been disabled and a newer version of the update mechanism will be implemented in the next release.

Spot window with band map

Screen Details

We are continuing to explore the spot information panel.

In this snapshot, you can see I have clicked on the bandmap button under the spot display to show the band map window for the currently selected band..

The band map will show spots less than 20 minutes old on the selected band. If you click on the All or Alarm band selection radio button on the spot display, the bandmap will disappear since its impossible to show that range of frequencies. You can also close the bandmap window either by clicking the bandmap button or clicking the close button in its window header.

At the bottom of the bandmap is a resolution slider control. Sliding this control to the left widens the frequency displayed (so more Khz are present without having to scroll). Spot varies the font size of the callsigns to show as many as possible. Sliding the control to the right makes the displayed frequency range smaller, giving more space to see individual spots.

Since I am primarily a RTTY fanatic, I usually leave the bandmap up, with the slider to the right and the display centered on the digital part of the preffered band.
